In belated celebration of our 2 year anniversary, Tiernan and I went for tapas followed by a walk along the pier at Dun Laoghaire.
The sun is normally so rare in Ireland, but we’ve had more sunny days than rainy ones since I’ve been back. It seemed like the whole area was down on the pier walking – themselves or their dogs. I saw so many cute doggies that I really want on. Unfortunately the house we’ve rented won’t allow pets. No puppy for me yet!
We walked from the Yacht Club to the lighthouse on the east pier. Passing by no fewer than three Teddy’s Ice Cream trucks/stalls. That shop – a cute little ice cream shop at the Glasthule end of Dun Laoghaire – has really monopolised the market. As we’d had ice cream after dinner, we skipped a 99.
There is currently a summer fair set up on the pier. It’s been there a couple of weeks now, but we only just got the chance to visit. Tiernan says it’s very San Francisco. I know they normally have a fair at Bray for the summer, but I don’t remember there being one at Dun Laoghaire. Seems like a good spot for one though.
Sailing seems to be very in this summer, too. There were loads of kids learning to sail little boats in the marina. Cute.
On the way back to the car we ducked into the fair. Found another couple of Teddy’s food places. Tried a sideshow. Here is a photo of Tiernan and I with our new acquisition, Ed Sapien, the green stuffed monkey.
