A New Year on the Antrim Coast

I was very late to the world of Instagram, having only signed up in December, but I am absolutely addicted to it (as though I didn’t take enough photos anyway!).

So. Happy New Year to all! Welcome to 2015. The year of awesome and everything that it promises to be. I took a day trip up the Antrim Coast to celebrate. Seemed that a lot of people thought to do the same. The Giant’s Causeway was quite crowded. Rained (as usual) but was still an awesome day out. As Billy Connolly said, “There’s no such thing as bad weather… only inappropriate clothing.” Thus, completely rugged up in hiking boots and a ski jacket, muddling my way through puddles was easy. Took to it like a duck to water – or a “fish to soup” as Tiernan says.

This year is proving to be one full of unexpected things. On the bus today I met a girl from New Zealand I have probably come across some time in the past. We have mutual friends, her time in Auckland is spent one suburb over from mine, and at some point in our lives we attended the same local church (and both haven’t been back for several years).

Continuing a theme of unlikeliness, I even managed to cross over the rope bridge at Carrick-a-Rede!

Tiernan’s year hasn’t started off quite so well. With a broken down bus in Belfast he is looking forward to a 4.30am start tomorrow morning. Why can’t January 2nd be a holiday as well here?
